Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone!
On May 5, 1992, Sigma Delta Alpha Fraternity, a Latino-based organization, was officially founded at San Jose State University.
Since the fraternity's formation, Sigma Delta Alpha has strived to
fulfill the goals envisioned by the Original 18 Founding Fathers.
One of the five purposes of Sigma Delta Alpha is to encourage the promotion and retention of Latinos and other underrepresented groups at institutions of higher learning. Another purpose is to promote Latino culture to the community.
Sigma Delta Alpha's motto is "Excellence and Loyalty Amongst Brothers," its colors are forest green, white, and maroon, and its national philanthropy is men's health. The fraternity has 9 chapters in the states of California and Nevada.
One of Sigma Delta Alpha's most notable alumni is Mark A. Cardenas, a member of the Arizona House of Representatives.
