On Saturday, April 13, 2013, the Theta Pi chapter of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity at the University of Alabama at Huntsville will host their fifth annual Battle of the Buffalo, a fundraising food festival where local restaurants and amateurs compete for the honor of Best Wing in the Tennessee Valley.

Round 5 of the event, which was first held in 2009, honors the memory of a fraternity brother who lost his life to leukemia in 2007. Following the passing of brother Paul "Fish" Salmon, the ATO chapter at UAH has dedicated all its philanthropy efforts to the Russel Hill Cancer Foundation.

The Russel Hill Cancer Foundation helps provide funding for innovative cancer research, promotes cancer education in the community, assists eligible patients with uncovered costs of treatments, and supports the development of improved communication among health-care providers.

The Battle of the Buffalo has experienced tremendous growth since its inception. Ten restaurants participated in last year's event and about 15 to 20 are expected at this year's festival. The event will include live musical entertainment and a Kids Zone with an inflatable bouncy castle, dual lane slides, and obstacle course.

Battle of the Buffalo Round 4 raised $18,000 for the Russel Hill Cancer Foundation.  If you would like to be a part of Battle of the Buffalo Round 5, please contact Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity at wings@battleofthebuffalo.com for more information.

If you can't make the fundraising food festival, you can make a donation in Paul Michael Salmon's honor via the Russel Hill Cancer Foundation website.
