Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity was founded 165 years ago today at Yale University. Four Presidents of the United States have been members of Delta Kappa Epsilon, including former-president, George W. Bush. The fraternity, which has about 52 chapters, was founded in 1844 when several young men of the sophomore class at Yale College were not admitted to either of the two existing societies on campus. This first chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon was denoted Phi chapter and is the only fraternity at Yale that has never gone inactive. Members of the fraternity are known as Dekes and the organization's public motto is Kerothen Philoi Aei, or "Friends From The Heart Forever." The fraternity colors are crimson, blue, and gold and other famous DKE alumni include William Randolph Hearst, Cole Porter, Dick Clark, and George Steinbrenner.Happy 165th Anniversary to all members of Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity!
